We highly recommend Florida if you're really serious about shelling. As you move west along the Gulf shelling changes and as you move north east, shelling continues to change.

Ohhhh those beaches! Everywhere from Corpus Christi to Galveston to Gulf Shores to Pensacola and heading south to the Keys beaches beaches beaches. * Some of our favorites are: Pensacola, Panama City, Marco Island, Sanibel Island, Hobe Sound, Jupiter and Vilano

Sometimes just being in the right place at the right time is all that it takes. Example: this picture. This beautiful, most likely, juvenile Queen's Helmet, rolled out of the waves right in front of Aaron. So the water line is a great place to look for shells. Then we try the wrack lines.

We hardly ever go beachcombing without our sand sifting scoops. Sure makes it easier on the back. We also carry a mesh bag that holds our larger seashells and then a smaller container lined with paper towel for those delicate shells, like sand dollars. For those really long days we wear hydration backpacks and of course a snack.

Sunscreen!!! Bug spray!! Extra water, extra containers and bags; snacks, towels, snorkel gear, umbrellas, small stools, plus we usually bring the water proof bag for our phones.

Lynn's bucket list: tulip, true tulip, flat, gaudy nautica, alphabet cone, lions paw, horse conch.
Aaron's bucket list: gaudy nautica, any type cone, tulip, nutmeg and fighting conch

Please make sure you have some type of bug spray that will help with mosquitos, biting flies and noseeums aka biting midges. Those pesky bugs can ruin your beachcombing.

Always pay close attention to the beach warning flags. Red and Double Red...maybe another day. Yellow stay ashore and look for shells. Green is the sign for GO. Purple is the color of marine pests sightings like jellyfish. Ouch!

Sometimes I become so focused on my search that I forget to appreciate the color of the water, the different birds, crabs, stingray swimming by plus the possible dolphin sightings. Of course you must always be aware of jellyfish and the rare shark sighting.
